STATEMENT BY PETERHEAD PORT AUTHORITY (COVID-19)

ShowHide dashboard

The subject of COVID-19 is a matter that is continuously under review and to date this has not directly affected or hindered our Port & Harbour operations.

As an Authority, we are continually monitoring the current situation by following on a daily basis all Public Health, Government and HSE guidance.

Please refer to our COVID-19 Management Plan which can be viewed here.

Our employees are aware that they should be careful about any future travel plans in the coming weeks / months as to what risk they may be exposing themselves to and how the lack of certainty regarding any foreign travel may affect their plans and their own wellbeing. To this end, all non-essential business travel has been cancelled for the time being.

Efforts have been made to brief the port community regarding the importance of the steps that can be taken to avoid the risk of spread of the infection with regards regular and thorough washing of hands with either soap or sanitiser gel, the need to regularly disinfect surfaces and objects, particularly in any shared office environments and the published guidance in relation to protection measures when coughing or sneezing.

The Port community have been made aware of the signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and to date we have not had any reported cases of persons employed by us or in contact with our employees showing any such symptoms. This will of course be monitored daily and we will endeavour to update you as and when there are changes.

We trust that the above information provides sufficient information on how the COVID-19 is currently impacting on our business and as to what preventative and reactive measures may be required as the situation develops.

We look forward to your cooperation and support as we move through this ‘new normal’.

Take care and stay healthy.

Simon G Brebner

Chief Executive
